Parent Guest Blogger: Rebecca Williams (Kyle's Mom)

Tuesday afternoon after picking up the kids from school we stopped by a thrift store.  While I shopped, Kyle looked at books. He started reading a Hardy Boys book and had read two chapters by the time we left the store. So, I bought the book. After he did his homework, he went back to reading his new book. While I was fixing dinner, he came into the kitchen to tell me all about what he'd read so far. I was just amazed! When he started second grade, he was really struggling with reading; struggling through sentences and stumbling over fairly simple words. Now, three months into the school year, he's excited about reading Hardy Boys! I am so pleased with his progress.

Madeline's Christmas and The Beacon

The bus ride over to Chapman!

We had the best seats in the house! Look at how fancy they all look! Ryan said, "Man we look famous!"

Special thanks to Mr. Steve Duncan and The Beacon for their great southern hospitality. Lunch was fantastic, and lots of parents were able to join us! I apologize in advance of the nice onion smell that is coming home!!!

Class Visitor

This morning when the kids arrived, we had a visitor waiting on us in the classroom. We are so happy that Santa sent "Tink" to visit with us from now until Christmas. He left us a healthy treat and asked us to be extra good the next few weeks. Hope Tink can be good too! He had the Chipmunks Christmas blaring on the iPod as we came in, and he was sitting on top of the Promethean board. It was a great morning!!!

Johnny Appleseed 2012

WOW!!! What a great turnout we had this morning for our play. Below you can see just a few pics of some of our MORE THAN 30 guests that came to see our in class production of Johnny Appleseed! Our classroom was literally a theater full, as we moved tables and chairs to make the class look like an auditorium!

The play was fantastic! The kids did a great job with everything from lighting, sound effects, stage managing, acting, and playing host to all of our guests! Here is the crazy pose from after the play was done. A big shout out to our 4th grade friends, Niesha, Damaj', and Bradley for helping hold the set!

After the play, all the guests were invited to make apple turnovers with the class. LOOK AT THIS CROWD! This was the best shot I could get, and it doesn't come close to telling the whole story. You could barely turn around in the room. BIG BIG THANKS to my own mother for coming out to help!

There's my mom.... The blonde in all black! So thankful for her!!!

Here are the kids enjoying their yummy treats after a hard morning of acting!!!

Apple juice and apple butter,
Apple sauce and apple cobbler,
My Oh My, Sweeeeeet Apple Pie!
Yummmmmmmmmmm!
