Alligator Chomp

When learning how to compare numbers, we use the symbols <  and  >. When I was in school I struggled with this so much. Thankfully, we have learned that the alligator is the trick. Look at his mouth as it's open, and he always wants to eat the bigger number. 42 > 20. Fun right?

Today each group played a math game to help them grasp the concept a little better. On Friday, we will be performing our "Alligator Chomp" song from earlier this week for our Grandparent's Day breakfast. I will be sure to video it for all of you to see.

If you are a teacher and would like a copy of this game, please visit my Teachers Pay Teachers page to get your set! http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Store/Jed-Dearybury

Spike The Bearded Dragon

Spike finally made it out of the cage today. The kids were hesitant at first, but I think they will be holding him in no time.

Place Value Polka

As we continue to learn about place value, we added a fun matching game to our collection of learning experiences. The Place Value Polka helped students to practice their understanding numbers in various forms. Written Form: thirty-six, Tens and Ones: 3 tens 6 ones, Expanded Form: 30+6=36. When they located their matches, students joined hands and shouted their victory cheer. Big shout out to our video host for a great job telling about our experience with no script!
