Make Testing Fun

State Testing is such an arduous process for my students that I felt the need to make it as fun as possible for them each morning before we began. Each day, I provide them all with "brain food" as they arrive. The food consists of graham crackers, bananas, and apple juice. Someone told me that this mixture of food boosts their brain power! They are all fully charged with their super powers as testing begins.

The thing that the students have enjoyed most this week is my personal letters of encouragement to them. As you can see in the pic below, each day of testing brought a new note hanging in their "office." Many times, I saw students read their note and smile as they worked through the test. I am so proud of all their hard work this week! I wish all of my parents could see this side of their child. They are so focused and determined! I cannot wait for the results to come back in the fall!

  1. That is so cool! I was always so sick at testing time. Mason told me today that he wish that testing was more often. They get brain food, get to relax and goof off (just a little). I love that feeling, knowing that he is happy and content at school. Thanks Mr Dearybury. :)

  3. Thank you so much for doing this. Lizzie was so nervous prior to the testing but the brain food, snacks and encouragement you have given really helped her come home with a smile on her face!!

  4. Bray told me about the brain food! Wow! Hadn't heard of that combination of foods before, but I love the fact that the parents get to partake and benefit from some of the great things Mr. D teaches our children. Knowledge truly is power!
