What Big Eyes You Have

Check out this neat creature that visited us on the playground at recess. It was the first time I had ever seen one. It's called an Eyed Clicking Beetle. It uses the big black "eyes" on its back to warn off predators. It uses its clicking ability to flip over when it gets stuck on his back. It was also very good at playing dead as a defense mechanism. So glad we got to see him!!!

  1. These little critters are quite fascinating. I've seen them before and it's entertaining to watch them flip over. The "clicking" noise makes them sound oddly mechanical. :-D
