Artist in Residence, Jef Lambdin

Our school has been an ABC (Arts in Basic Curriculum) school for the last 10 years! What that means is that we infuse the arts into every area of our curriculum because we believe in the power of the arts to make learning engaging and meaningful. One of the perks of being an ABC school is that we often have artists in residence visit us and share their expertise. This week the entire 1st and 2nd grade has been privileged to have expert mime, Jef Lambdin as our guest artist. Students are loving EVERY second!!! Today they are creating their own imaginary creatures using their bodies instead of words or drawings. Their creativity and thinking are mind blowing. They will work all week long to design their own mime show and perform for the other classes on Friday. I can hardly wait to see what they come up with! I am so glad to be a part of a school that knows the power of the arts and its long term effect on student achievement.

If you would like to know more about Jef, checkout his website here. He would love to visit your school too!
