African Drummers

As you know we are an ABC (Arts in Basic Curriculum) School. This allows us to partner with great organizations in our state to bring unique performances to our students. We use the arts in every aspect of our curriculum because we fully understand the power that they have in helping students to gain meaning from their learning experiences.

Today our school shined brightly once more in the arts as we welcome the Orisisi African Drummers to our school. They told stories, sang, and danced as they taught us about the customs and traditions of West Africa. Ms. Tutu is from Nigeria and her accent coupled with her excitement and energy were fantastic! She even taught us a West African Christmas song. I am so glad that my students are able to have these unique experiences as a regular part of their school day!
